Questions and Answers Q: On my computer, when I access some certain papers, I got an error message like "unable to find/create font ..." or "The encoding specified by a font is missing or corrupted." What is the problem and how I can solve it? A: There are few papers, about 30 of all 1416 papers using some fonts which are not in default English system and not embedded successfully inside the PDF file. Asian Font Pack from Adobe is recommended to be installed for getting rid of this problem. Asian Font Pack can be downloaded from Adobe web site. Readers in Asia may not meet this problem at all because the fonts needed are installed by default in their system. Q: I have Acrobat Reader already installed on the computer. But I receive errors or some files are not accessible. What should I do? A: For full functionality of the CD-ROM you need Acrobat Reader version 6.0 or higher installed. Generally lower versions may work but several warning messages will disturb browsing the CD-ROM. Q: For some papers I'm viewing, on screen the text resolution seems to be very low so I can't read it clearly. A: This may be the case when authors submitted scanned (graphic) PDF files. Usually PDF files obtained from text documents are optimized for printing at 300 DPI or 600 DPI, so the text and figures are well resolved. But scanned files have fixed low resolution appearance. *********************************************** Tomasz. A. Kowalewski, July 20, 2004, ***********************************************
