EXPERIMENTAL BENCHMARKS FOR COUPLED CONVECTION AND HEAT TRANSFER
IN SOLID-LIQUID PHASE CHANGE
PAGE COMMING SOON, NOT FINISHED!
We propose three experimental benchmark problems to validate
physics of the numerical algorithms
designed for the computation of coupled coupled natural convection/phase
change problems.
A comparison exercise for numerical codes simulating solidification
in the presence of natural convection
of a pure substance of well known properties (water).
Consider a differentially heated cube shaped cavity
filled with water.
After a natural convection established, cold wall temperature
is set to -10C. Four non-isothermal walls are made of Plexiglas.
Freezing process starts from
well defined state ("warm start").
Benchmark for the starting solution is given here.
People working in this field are warmly encouraged
to participate to this benchmark exercise.
A synthesis and comparison of the results will be presented at
PCC05 Workshop.
Potential contributors to test their codes should contact
T. A. Kowalewski and B. Sarler.
